‘Gone Girl’ a thrilling and complex story

If you are interested in thrillers, check out the dark psychological novel “Gone Girl” by Gillian Flynn. Published in June 2012, the novel became quite popular and won the Goodreads choice awards best mystery and thriller. It is a story about a complicated marriage between a smart, good-looking guy named Nick and his wife Amy, a beautiful and brilliant woman.

The book alternates between their two points of view on their marriage. Nick describes Amy as an irrational perfectionist and Amy’s diary portrays Nick as an aggressive, threatening husband. When the couple loses their jobs in New York and are forced to relocate to Missouri, the two have conflicting mindsets. Nick lowers his expectations and wants to help his sick mom, while Amy is stuck with over the top expectations and badly misses New York. This is the turning point of their marriage. On the day of their anniversary, Amy goes missing. All eyes are on Nick as he tries to uncover the mystery of his wife’s disappearance.

The story will make you ask yourself, “Should I believe this?” As events from the past are shown, the truth becomes clearer. You’ll discover that the relationship was toxic and dysfunctional. The story is complex but somehow everything ties together perfectly.

This book has a lot of twists and suspenseful moments and I was shocked as each of the twists was revealed. Be aware this book contains dark and mature content. You really should give this book a try and take on its roller-coaster journey of dark psychological events and thrilling adventure.
