Jamie Dela Cruz’s plans and aspirations

Throughout the 2015-16 school year, one student has consistently viewed and provided feedback for with The Pinion the most. Jamie Dela Cruz is a sophomore at McKinley High School. He began viewing The Pinion website near the beginning of the year and is a main commenter on The Pinion’s social media accounts, such as Instagram and Facebook.

Dela Cruz said he uses The Pinion website regularly during the school year to gain access to school related information. He said the site is helpful and intriguing.

“Reading your stories interests me. It involves the school. I want to know what’s going on with it. If there is some stuff I don’t know about … I would read something off the Pinion’s website,” Dela Cruz said.

The Pinion staff frequently posts information about upcoming and ongoing school events. On Instagram and Facebook, The Pinion staff uploads photos. This is something that caught the attention of Dela Cruz.

“If it involves photography or anything that interests teens then I actually get interested in that. Even if I’m not in the school I would like to know what’s going on,” Dela Cruz said.

Dela Cruz said he thinks he is one of the few people who reads The Pinion and actually thinks about it.

“When they get the paper, they just read it and let it pass by. They don’t think or say anything about it. I care,” he said.

Dela Cruz’s hobbies include listening to music and reading. He has taken an interest in songwriting. Although his inspiration comes from bands like Coldplay, Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco, his writing leans more towards the pop genre.

“I’m just trying to come up with words to say to people and express my feelings to them,” Dela Cruz said.

After high school he wishes to publish his music for the world to listen to. If that doesn’t work out then he is thinking about the Air Force.
