“Duff” Review

Yunmi Kim, reporter

The Duff is a PG-13 movie that is 101 minutes long. A high school senior named Bianca Piper (Mae Whitman) goes to a party with her two best friends, Jess and Casey, who also happen to be popular and prettier than Bianca. Bianca is told that she is a DUFF (Designated Ugly, Fat Friend) by her neighbor and childhood friend, Wes (Robbie Amell) at the party. Although she is insulted by the comment, Bianca starts realizing that it is actually true. Then Bianca asks Wes to help her to not be a Duff in exchange for helping him pass science class. This begins the journey of comedy, adventure and romance.

I found this movie to be more of a R-Rated movie than a PG-13 movie. It had a lot of obscene scenes as well as inappropriate jokes in the movie. Overall, it was cute with the actors and actresses being in a high school environment and showing many high school experiences such as dances, parties, grades and relationships. Many students who are graduating or going to graduate soon from high school will find this movie memorable of their own high school memories.
