Ryan Sacro shares his experiences in wrestling

Wrestling is exciting to watch but scary to play. This is what Sophomore Ryan Sacro thought before joining the wrestling team.

Sacro signed up for the wrestling team only this school year, but he has already won the first three matches against Kalani, Kaiser and Farrington. His individual matches will be counted as team points.

“It was fun,” he said.

Sacro joined this sport after he was introduced to it by his senior friend. He was excited but he was also scared of getting hurt at the same time. At every practice, Sacro is eager to learn more about wrestling.

Practice becomes harder as they continue to compete with other school wrestling teams. Occasionally, they would play games such as “Pin the King” to enjoy themselves.

Before competitions, they had a novice meet to prepare themselves. Sacro lost the three matches against the senior members of the wrestling team. These matches helped him to know his strong and weak points and to also help him improve his performance.

“Be tough,” he said. “[Pain] is only temporary, [but] it helps you in the end to win matches.”
