Kaiser loss teaches lessons for Homecoming Game
McKinley Tigers lose to Kaiser Cougars
September 17, 2014
The varsity football team lost to Kaiser 14-51 last Friday night.
“They felt devastated from the loss. We could’ve made better choices and now we know what we have to work on for our homecoming week game,” said team member Makaala Laulu.
He said a win will only come with physical and mental preparation.
The game against Kaiser started well. After the Tigers scored their first touchdown of the game making the score 7-24, the team had confidence.
“It made the boys have confidence in one another to trust each other for another score,” Laulu, a junior, said.
Soon after they scored their first touchdown, the Tigers drove the ball down the field to make the score 14-27 .
The second half came and the Tigers got the ball. The team became frustrated after turning the ball over four times in the third quarter with two interceptions for a score of 14-35 point game.
“When second half came, there was no communication from the plays. No one on our side knew what to do. Most forgot the play.” Laulu said.
He said that their mistakes kept them from their goal.
As the players left the field, many with heads down, their parents went to hug and give them support. It was a dramatic loss.

McKinley’s football team has been the same since last year. All the boys need to do is stop TALKING about winning and actually do it. They have support all they need is the motivation.
