Students choose the clubs that match their hobbies.

McKinley High School has 25 clubs that students can join. Students have their own reasons for joining a club. It could be because it relates to their hobbies or that they have friends who are joining the same club.

“Fun and meaningful” was one reason students gave for joining a club. They said they wanted to learn and have fun through the club activities and meet more friends. Some of them joined clubs because their friends were there. The main reason was the club they want to choose matches their hobbies.

“Right now, I want to join the volleyball club,” said freshman Aries Reyes, “because it’s related to volleyball and matches my hobbies.” He said that the attitude of people and how they can help each other are the most important aspects of a club.

Another freshman, Michael Stovall, said if he could start a club, he would want to start a Christian club, which matches his religion. “I think the thoughts of the people in clubs is also important,” Stovall said.

Every club has its own special draw but what students like the most and makes them want to join is the people and attitude of the club.
