On Feb. 21, there was a college and career fair held at McKinley High School’s cafeteria. The fair was separated into two parts, with the career fair going from 2:20 pm to 4:00 pm and the college fair going from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Many local businesses from many different areas were represented at this fair, from service jobs to a military career. The businesses who attended the McKinley Career Fair were as follows: Barbizon Performing Arts, Caregiver Training School, DLIR Workforce Development Division, FCH Enterprises (Zippy’s), Gros Bonnet Culinary Academy, Hawaii Air National Guard, Hawaii Institute of Hair Design, Hawaiian Humane Society, HCC Apprenticeship Program, Hennes & Mauritz (H&M), Jamba Juice Hawaii, KUPU Hawaii, Paul Mitchell the School Honolulu, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, U.S. Army, U.S. Army National Guard, U.S. Marines and U.S. Navy.

These businesses provided insight and tips to interested students. In one case, the Marines booth had brought a piece of exercise equipment to give curious students a taste of the life of a U.S. Marine. While other booths were not so extensive as the Marines’s booth, their representatives were always ready to answer questions and were prepared with many packets of information.
