Seven periods allow students to take more electives
September 23, 2014
Most schools have a total of six periods a day, whereas McKinley has seven. The extra elective class was added in, therefore extending our school schedule to 3 p.m.
Many people have thought that the reason for the extension was for the failing students. The four extra credits for each year would give them a few classes to fall back on to acquire the 24 credits. It will also help the shortcomings of some students.
Principal Ron Okamura stated that it was an “opportunity for more electives.” He also said that it could give students more options to pursue what they want.
