Proper grammar matters

Why it is important

“It depends on the situation,” said freshman Darius Nakao.

We live in a world where technology is everywhere.  People go online and post silly and ridiculous picture or videos on the internet and chat with their friends typing things like LOL or TTYL or FYI or any other letters that means things like Laugh Out Loud.  However, people should start thinking what they are typing before they post.  Maybe you can type around your friends and its no big deal, but proper grammar is important.

Imagine this.  Employers go on social media to check your background, your record, and importantly, your posts.  For example, in Facebook setting up your profile there is one part that it says “Works at”.  If you joke around on it, employers could check it.  Employers are looking for people with skill and professional attitude. For some people, for your future, suggest you should use proper grammar.

Also, proper grammar could also help you singles get into a relationship.  Sure, people get in relationships by how a male or how a female looks.  However, If you can put in the correct words with the right tune, chances are you could just get in a relationship.  According to Dating site Match, They asked about more than 5000 singles in the U.S. and the survey states that 88% women and 75% men said they care about proper grammar the most.

Mckinley Students opinion on the value of proper grammar varies, “For essays, yes,” said freshman Pe San. “Well, in some cases, it depends,” said freshman Benny Trieu. “It depends on the situation,”said freshman Darius Nakao.  “If you were either reading or writing, sure it’s important.  If you were talking to someone like your friends, not really but if you were talking to a stranger, then maybe,” said Nakao.

You don’t have to use proper grammar all the time.  All that I’m just saying you should just think. Think about what you say.  Think about what you type.  Think of the situation.  We all have the ability to think.  If you are a kind of person who just likes to fool around, type what’s in your mind.  However, depending on the situation, use proper grammar.
