School buildings are safe

Your biggest concern about school should not be if the roof over your head can collapse on you at any given minute, like Farrington’s auditorium roof not too long ago, but don’€™t worry, McKinley High School’s buildings are stable, according to Principal Ron Okamura.

Despite being constructed in 1927, McKinley High School is in pretty good condition. The entire school went through a building renovation 15 years ago, all except for W-building. The school underwent a structural inspection and W-building seems to be still in a solid state after many years of not being redone. However, in about 2 years, W-building will undergo a renovation.

Even though the buildings are not new or fancy, students should appreciate them and not vandalize them, said Okamura. Things such as graffiti, tagging, or in worse cases Criminal Property Damage are just irresponsible acts. This irresponsible acts cost money and labor to repair.

“€œIt upsets me,”€ said Okamura.

It shows that the student has a lack of respect for the school. He said the schools that you’€™ve gone to have shaped who you are now. They are your roots.
