Korean teachers visit McKinley

Hello!

The last two weeks, you may have seen a few new faces joining in on some of your classes. They were visitors that came all the way from Gyeonggi-do, Korea, to observe school life in Hawaii, and also English teachers who came to learn about American teaching methods.

Their feedback was all very positive.

One of the visitors, Eun Myo Park, said she was impressed by the Welcome Back Assembly and commented that it was unlike the ones held in Korea. Korean schools usually only have assemblies at the beginning and end of the year- if they even have them.

Another difference between Korean and American schools is class time. Even with our class time shortened from 90 minutes to 75 minutes, the amount of time we have for each class surprised the visitors.

Classes in Korea are 45 minutes each. Students there tend to fall asleep during classes, which is why the classes are shorter. The visitors said, however, that students generally go to prep school or private lessons after regular classes end.

The visitors were fascinated by how well-behaved the students at Mckinley are. It seems like we left a superb impression on them. Great job, Tigers!
