McKinley’s Class of 2015 graduated Sunday. Three speakers address past, present and future. The crowd was quiet and respectful. Nobody made noise during the speeches.

The past speaker was Yuequing Lin. She talked about the competitions that senior have done and accomplished. She talked about all the memories they had as seniors.

The present speaker was Mehealani Wilson. She sounded emotional when she spoke. She talked about how graduating wouldn’t be so hard, but will bring memories the people wouldn’t think they would miss. She talked about how now that that they are graduates, the students have to have responsibilities in what they are going to do out in the real world.

She said they should be proud of what they have accomplished. She encouraged her fellow classmates that they should not be scared of something they have never tried before. They have to push themselves even out in the real world.

She talked about how, when the graduates were little, they always got inspired by their family, and she reminded them that they are not little anymore. It’s their turn in the real life, doing what their parents and teachers have gone through. She congratulated her friends and thanked the teachers and staff for guidance and help.

The future speaker was  Dayonara Gaoteote. She talked about how the world they’re about to enter will be a challenge but no matter how hard it is, they have to remember with pride that they graduated from McKinley. She talked about being a good role model for the juniors, sophomores and freshmen.

She said they have to keep pushing themselves through the challenges. If they fall, they must get back up and keep trying but even harder. Now that they’re leaving high school, they should use what they have done here in the real world. They should never give up.
