Students of McKinley High School attended the last assembly for this 150 year celebration for the seniors. Ninety-seven graduates earned a scholarship.

Post high school counselor Colleen Inaba read the list of seniors who got scholarships to colleges. These students filled up to ten rows in the middle of the gym floor. Inaba said, “This is due to the fact that as the attendance of students increases, so does the amount of scholarships.” Senior Vivian Chen received the highest scholarship.

The seniors sang two songs. The first, “The World’s Greatest” by R. Kelly, was dedicated to music teacher Scott Takata. Takata helped the seniors learn the songs. The second song was “Today My Life Begins” by Bruno Mars.

The senior class won first place for the class competition For example they won the relay races against the other classes and they won the placard competition for the homecoming football game. Coming in second was the juniors, followed by the freshmen.

The class councils gave their advisers gifts. The senior class gave the school a portrait of Senator Daniel Inouye for the library because Inouye graduated from McKinley. He then became a senator.
