Academy Award Winner: ‘Spotlight’
April 1, 2017
If you’re looking for a movie with suspense that showcases what a journalist has to go through to get to the bottom of a story, then “Spotlight” is for you.
In this movie, the Spotlight team of Mike Rezendes (Mark Ruffalo), Walter Robinson (Michael Keaton), Sacha Pfeiffer (Rachel McAdams) and Matt Carroll (Brian D’arcy James) start to investigate the accusations made against Father Geoghan, a Catholic priest who had been molesting young boys for years. Within a few weeks, the journalists were able to uncover other abusive priests and many more victims in Boston and around the world. What made this crime even more unacceptable was the fact that Cardinal Law knew and did nothing.
This movie shows the whole process of a journalist, from doing background research, interviewing people and investigating to writing the article and publishing it. It was an accurate portrayal of the life of a journalist as well as a tribute to the efforts the Boston Globe’s Spotlight investigative team made to bring justice to the victims and their families.
