Holidays are the time of celebration and remembrance of an important event or person that took place in one’s country. Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, Prince Kuhio Day, King Kamehameha l Day, and many other holidays are observed here in the state of Hawaii.

These holidays should also be a time when friends and family come along together to celebrate their culture and tradition due to its many numerous advantages.

One of the benefits of observing a holiday tradition is that it connects us with our loved ones by commemorating our past together, as well as providing a sense of belonging. By spending the holidays with your loved ones, you have a great potential of strengthening your relationships.

Observing holiday traditions also has health benefits as well, such as improving one’s overall well-being. According to an interview conducted by Everyday Health, Carla Marie Manly, PhD, a private clinical psychologist, says that celebrating holiday traditions can be a form of self-care in treating our mental, emotional, and physical health.

“The holidays are the perfect time to immerse ourselves in the mood-boosting delight of sharing connective moments with friends and family.” Manly said.

Celebrating and creating new holiday traditions with family and friends is a great way to strengthen your relationships and improve your health. Making new fun-filled memories through new and old traditions is an excellent way to commemorate a holiday.
