During the last year, I never understood the difference between writing a newspaper and writing an essay. I thought they were the same but in a newspaper I cannot have my opinions in it. Throughout the year, though, I started to learn the difference.

The writing format is not the same and newspaper involves news, features, sports and editorials. Writing an essay includes your thesis statement, three supporting statements and the conclusion. I believe that a newspaper is telling people about everything that is happening around the world. A paper is writing your understanding of a topic. There is a big difference between these two because when writing an essay, you are trying to persuade your reader that you understand the topic you are talking about. The newspaper should state facts about what is happening on the daily; like the weather, any events coming up, any problems happening and etc. When writing about it opinions are not included in it. The two writing formats are different from each other. Sometimes when writing, I mix these two up. The more I got into writing, the more I started to notice the difference between these two.
