Sherry Takao is a math teacher and what she enjoys most about her job is that she likes teaching math to her students. Takao graduated from the University of Hawaii with an accounting major. If she were not a math teacher then she would be an accountant. Before being a math teacher she used to work as an insurance salesperson.

Takao wanted to become a math teacher because she likes numbers and knows that math is in our everyday life.

“Math is everywhere,” said Takao.

Takao’s students have a positive attitude towards her and value her teaching methods. Takao has her students takes notes by writing the steps of how to solve math problems.

Junior Nicholas Nguyen likes how Takao is a positive teacher and wants her students to learn. If something is difficult she teaches it in a way students understand.

“I like that she is a good teacher and she cares for her students,” Nguyen said. “If you don’t understand, she teaches a different way,” he said.

Senior Atuila Mauga values the way Takao helps her students through the learning path of math.

“Ms. Takao is the bomb diggity,” said Mauga.
