One thing’s for sure, when Tigers wake up, they ROAR!

On August 9, an absolutely emphatic student body showed their Tiger Pride at the McKinley’s Welcome Back Assembly held at the beginning of every school year. The annual event is meant to inform, inspire, and motivate the students of school for the up and coming year.

“For opening assemblies, it’s one of the better ones I’ve been at. A lot of spirit, all the students were well behaved. It’s like I expected,” said Principal Ron Okamura.

From the sophomores to the seniors, series of roars and screams echoed, especially during exciting moments such as the Athlete’s Dance and the Potato Sack Race, which were new additions the assembly.

When asked their opinion of assembly, most students were positive.

“It was fun,” and “It was better than last year,” said two students.

“I thought it was a good way to introduce the freshmen to the school, I really liked the cheerleaders and the athletic programs performance. It was cool,” said one sophomore.

Another sophomore stated, “It was very spirited…it was a good motivation for people to do things.”

When asked about the new additions to this year’s assembly, many students were impressed, saying that they were, “surprised” and “impressed” with additions, such as the McKinley Cheerleader’s new routine and the “athletic dance.”

One student said, “Honestly, I actually enjoyed this year’s assembly, all the other ones I didn’t. It’s like since you’re a senior, you actually take things more seriously.”
