Saavedra shreds up the water

Interested in a sport? How about a sport that combines three sports in one? Wakeboarding is a combination of surfing, water skiing, and snowboarding. Wakeboarding is a water sport; you use a wakeboard to ride over the water while being pulled behind a boat, usually a ski boat. How €œwakeboarding got its name is by the wave that is created by the boat which is used by a wake boarder to jump or slide. The reason why Jade Saavedra chose this particular sport is because her family was a big part of it.

“I grew up watching everybody wakeboard,”€ said Saavedra.

Her dad used to be a wakeboarder, competing in various competitions, also Saavedra’€™s dad and uncle won wakeboarding trophies. Saavedra wakeboards with friends and family, but mostly family. Saavedra wakeboards at clubs, Private island( Slipper Island) and Na Ali’i Ski Club. Wakeboarding is an expensive sport you need the wakeboard itself, and putting the boat in storage. Also having the money to buy food and drinks. For people who want to try out wakeboarding, Saavedra suggests that for beginners it will be difficult to learn and get the hang of.

‘€œGotta have time, patience, and the dedication to it,” said Saavedra. S

o start off with a good driver and a teacher to help you to get started on wakeboarding. Wakeboarding is one of Saavedra passions.

“If I could do it everyday of the week I would.”
