On Friday, October 18, the McKinley Tigers took on the the Campbell Sabers in the OIA Red Division, Second Round Playoffs. With the Campbell Sabers being the same team that stopped McKinley’s chances of advancing last year, the Tigers entered this game with redemption on their minds.

The Tigers started out strong, using their prior knowledge of the team to their advantage, but they still could not stop the Sabers from making at least one touchdown in the first quarter. But heading into the second half, the Tigers started turning the tides, with Tyrell Tuiasosopo, despite losing his footing, was still able to hop up and receive the touchdown.

At this point the game started to go back and forth, with both Tigers and Sabers battling and answering back to the other’s big plays. Despite this, the Sabers still held on to their seven point lead.

Only towards the third quarter were most of McKinley’s mistakes made, with interceptions, picks, and fumbles towards McKinley. Campbell’s defense greatly exploited this weak point in the game and came up with 19 points in the fourth quarter.

The game ended with 13 to 40, with Campbell progressing on in the OIA Playoffs and ending ours in the process.
