Managing a successful publication involves more than creating content. The Integrated Marketing Communication Association rewards student publication staff for the marketing work they do. McKinley High Schoolʻs student newspaper and literary magazine earned recognition this year. (Click here to see all schools recognized.)
Best Print Ad (Collection)
Winner – Rose Ganotisi and Nhi Nguyen
These ads were created to spark the attention of McKinley alumni to interest them in joining the McKinley Alumni Association. We made the ad themes relative to the holiday of the season, for example fireworks for News Years and roses for Valentines. The McKinley tiger, designed by Nhi Nguyen, was a recurring character in all of our ads.
Best Social Media Ad (Collection)
This post was created using a Canva template and information from U.S Media Literacy Week in order to celebrate Media Literacy Week. It informed students and teachers what media literacy and Media Literacy week was, and provided ways the audience can practice media literacy.
Best Print Ad (Single)
I designed this flyer to advertise The Pinion’s booth at an on-campus event for a fundraiser. I included graphics and prices of the products we were selling, as well as a backstory for The Pinion’s banner, one of the designs featured on the pouches we sold.
Best Logo Design
Finalist – Riezel-Nicole Escoto
The client for this logo is Ka Hana Kaulana, McKinley’s literary magazine. The inspiration comes from blue ribbons used to recognize excellent work. Just like blue ribbons, the magazine recognizes all the work received as excellent and best of the best. Ka Hana Kaulana is Hawaiian for “The Celebrated Works.”
