My dad’s death

Valerin Choniong, reporter

My father’s death was unexpected.

First, it started with my dad not being able taste or smell. He told me that he had high blood pressure and he tended to get mad fast. Every day he would get up in the morning and make himself coffee with a lot of sugar. It surprised me. I had to tell him that it was too much.

When he ate food, he couldn’t smell it to see if it was bad or not. However, he still ate it.

My dad was the best I could ever have because even when he was be tired or sick, he cooked food for my brothers and me without us having to say anything.

I remember my dad telling my brothers to leave me alone whenever they bothered me. I also remember that he always had my favorite soda or juice waiting for me after school. When he passed away, my heart hurt because nobody knew he passed away. When I heard about it, all I did was cry day and night. He went to Ala Moana park and sat down on one of the benches. He put his head down and he was gone.
