This article is a feature written by Zara Bukhari. It talks about how an assistant Principal, Lawrence Garnet had no set path for him so he decided to make his own.
During Garnett’s year of High school, he was unsure of what to do next. The Principal assistant attended college as a science major in hopes of going to dental school, however he never had the support for his career in medicine, which led to him deciding to pursue education instead during his senior year. He also found mentors in college who helped him see a new path in education. Garnett later joined Teach for Charlotte which encourages college graduates to teach. The program typically supports graduates to grow in guidance and education. In spite of that, his main focus wasn’t always to be an administrator. About 7 years ago, he taught in different high schools. He mainly focused on teaching science and coaching football, then later became a managing director because Principal Niggli and others saw potential in him as a teacher and encouraged him to take on the role.
Throughout reading this article, it has met most of the elements of the TIPCUP values. This has an impact on readers because it tells an inspiring story how Lawrence Garnet put time and dedication into becoming a teacher to do what he loved, teaching. I also liked how they interviewed other students to get their opinion on the managing director. Many of the students stated how he is very fun to be around and an understanding person. “Boots in the ground” work was done very well, as this article holds a lot of information for the audience. I found the article keeping me hooked and entertained. In conclusion, the article is very well formed and I think that other people should check it out!
