Tigers beat Moanalua

Denzel Kalahiki-Gasper runs the ball against Moanalua.

McKinley beat Moanalua 28 to 21 in the first football game of the season. School spirit was in the air.  The game ran from around 7:45 PM to around 10:20 PM. There were many fantastic plays made by McKinley, both offensively and defensively.

McKinley maintained a strong lead throughout most of the game. The final score of third quarter was 28 for McKinley and 8 for Moanalua.

The game picked up during the fourth quarter when Moanalua began to shorten the difference in the scores. By mid-quarter, Moanalua had managed to bring their score up to twenty-one and McKinley had not managed to score any new points.

Suddenly, the game went from McKinley leading by twenty points to Moanalua being a little less than a touchdown away from tying the game.

“It was tough, we had to fight it out to the end.” said Denzel Kalahiki-Gasper, quarterback of McKinley’s football team.

McKinley was able to hold off Moanalua for the rest of the game and deny them any additional points, and as a result, won the game.
