Dominic Niyo
Aloha, my name is Dominic Niyo (‘26). I’m an editor for The Pinion, where I lead a 15+ member newsroom of reporters, editors, photographers, and designers across print, web, and social media platforms. I manage editorial operations from assignment to publication, enforce deadlines, and ensure all coverage meets journalistic ethics and publication standards. My coverage spans from school athletics, student life, local politics, true crime, and sexual misconduct investigations.
I represented Hawaii at the 2025 Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference. I am also a content contributor for Generations Magazine, and a youth member of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby Hawaii Media Task Force.
In addition to my work in journalism, I serve as a Blood Drive Ambassador for the Blood Bank of Hawaii, a state board member for the Hawaii High School Democrats, and as McKinley High School’s representative to the Hawaii State Student Council.
