Dominic Niyo
Aloha, my name is Dominic Niyo, ’26. I’m an editor for The Pinion, I oversee editorial operations across print, web, and social media, leading a 15+ member newsroom of reporters, editors, photographers, and designers. I manage content from assignment to publication, enforce deadlines, and ensure all reporting complies with ethical and publication standards. My coverage includes school athletics and events, as well as local politics, true crime, and reports on sexual misconduct allegations.
I also represented Hawaii at the 2025 Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference. I am a content contributor for Generations Magazine, and a youth member of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby Hawaii Media Task Force.
In addition to my work in journalism, I serve as a Blood Drive Ambassador for the Blood Bank of Hawaii, a state board member of the Hawaii High School Democrats, and McKinley High’s representative on the Hawaii State Student Council.
