Dominic Niyo
Aloha, my name is Dominic Niyo, Class of 2026. I am an editor for The Pinion, where I lead and collaborate with a 15+ member newsroom of reporters, editors, photographers, and designers across print, web, and social media platforms. I manage editorial operations from assignment to publication, enforce deadlines, and ensure all coverage meets journalistic ethics and publication standards. My reporting covers school athletics, student life, local politics, cultural affairs, true crime, and sexual misconduct investigations.
I represented Hawaii at the 2025 Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference. I am a Health and Lifestyle columnist for Generations Magazine.
In addition to my work in journalism, I serve as a Blood Drive Ambassador for the Blood Bank of Hawaii and McKinley High School’s representative to the Hawaii State Student Council.
